ART 305
This section is where I post various projects I've completed in my Art Disciplines and New Technology course. Enjoy!
Video Project: How to Bake a Chocolate Cake! (Formatted for Handheld Device)
Reflections
I made a "How-to" process video on baking a chocolate cake! Out of all of the steps, I'd say filming was the hardest because I filmed alone and cooked at the same time. I did my best not to shake the camera but it's clear that my mixing skills plummeted haha.
I wanted to make my first "handheld-preferred" video because I've always been intrigued by the trend. I also found it appropriate to test this because I primarily use my handheld devices while I'm cooking.
I edited this using a Lenovo Thinkpad video editor, which is very similar to iMovie. Editing the video took about a work day (~8 hours). I compiled the images and clips, trimmed their duration, added text over the whole video for the "How-to steps," and added audio.
I think what I'll try to do in the future is lessen the amount of filming cuts and find someone to film for me.
The cake turned out to be a "showstopper" and it was gone within the span of a day, a record for my family that doesn't really like sweets. It's definitely at its best texture on the first day, so eat as much as you can before it dries!

Tinkercad 3D Files - Potion Flask and Moth 3/10-4/12
Reflections
Tinkercad is free, easy to download, user-friendly, and a fun experience. I enjoyed making this moth design that took less than a day. I think the best thing about this app is that I know I have the option to make my design more complicated, or simplify it as well. I used this app on an Ipad and that likely made the process more easy. Using a computer mouse is not too difficult however, so I think that high school students or at least middle school students can use Tinkercad to make projects.

App Review Project 3/3-3/8
Reflections
I reviewed the website https://www.canva.com/colors/ because of its free-to-use tools and boundless information on color theory.
I can imagine navigating the website with students and watching them choose unique color palettes as a quick, fun activity. Any website that serves to facilitate color choice is incredibly helpful as an artist illustrator. Talking about it was easy because I've had prior experience with the generators, and the website itself is so user-friendly that exploring it wasn't hard. Looking for new resources is the same as finding new sources of inspiration for me, and I hope to pass that positive outlook on to students.

Reflections
I came into this project excited to make a video, but I was worried about the result. I think that working with this media is really fun and that the programs we used, such as "Audacity" and "iMovie," are both user-friendly and accessible tools. The most challenging part of this process was definitely editing the audio. It takes a lot of guesswork and trial-and-error. However, I can see that the more we use the software, the easier it will be. I want to make more videos. The editing process can be lots of fun, and I can see how engaging a video can be in a classroom when it's used on occasion.

Reflections
I was the group coordinator in this project. I hoped to facilitate the discussions between members, and my main goal was to talk about the project and plans so casually that my fellow group members would open up more. My main worry was whether or not my every-day texting would impact the group negatively.
By creating, sharing, and maintaining the order of several Google Drive folders, the project was easier to navigate. I often saw fellow members looking at and editing each others' documents, and I felt that this was successful. When I made the temporary grading rubric and required feedback, other members stepped in kindly.
My group project members and I were transparent about our work and consistently asked for feedback from each other. I am proud that we were able to maintain a strong workflow and produce quality results.
