Let's Discuss: Whitney Christian, MD, article "Get sunshine and fresh air while sheltering in place"4/13/2020 Being cooped up in your house during the COVID-19 outbreak can be stressful, whether you’re working from home, homeschooling your children or just monitoring what’s happening on the Internet.
-Article "Get sunshine and fresh air while sheltering in place" by Whitney Christian, MD Our country is working through a crisis. Here is a resource that motivates us to prioritize our well-being above all. In order to even consider work or education, giving yourself the necessary nutrients and R&R is important. To those who are fortunate with gardens, lawns, balconies, or windows, be mindful of your environment and how you interact with it. Taking care of the space around you is another way of caring for yourself and others who might be sharing your space. I always remind myself to eat, hydrate, and move the same ways as I've always done. On days the sun comes out I like to walk around in the garden. A tip my mother gave me is that, when you're able, go outside and try to look out as far as you can. When our eyes are glued to screens and indoor spaces all day, I can only imagine that we're hindering our ability to see the bigger picture. I want to ask how everyone's been taking care of themselves at this time. What fun and engaging things have you been immersed in lately, and how do you take breaks?

I am spending more time at my jobsite because we are unable to hire anyone during covid 19. So I am outside often and driving around from city to city checking on my projects. I get to spend a fair amount of time outdoors. Luckily for me I turn to Video games to take breaks and that is done inside at home. I have been doing that for 30+ years so I have been training for covid all my life... 🤔

i have really been into puzzles!! I have always thought that they were kinda lame, and i never had the space. anyways, I've been doing them at work with my clients, and i have found myself thinking about them outside work. the searching and placing together has really been soothing to my brain.

The game "Animal Crossing" somewhat simulated my quarantine experience. New to a deserted island, building a life from scratch, picking up twigs and catching fishes and bugs ... playing the game certainly took away my time form contemplating nature :). I enjoy the leisure but get bored sometime.

My husband and I are both working parents, and we have a 1 year old son.

At the moment it is not the easiest time to take breaks with being in school. I get to worried that a break will cause me to fall behind in my school work. If I were to take a break a book or a sewing activity would be fun to do. I don't go outside to much because the weather never seems right it is either too cold to wet or to hot. I'm also just waiting to get the semester over and feel the relaxation of laying in bed with a book.

It's strange that I find myself forgetting to do these very basic things even though i technically have more time on my hands.
